The World's First National Park! Yellowstone Park was established in 1872, it's 2.2 million acres include spectacular alpine lakes and rivers, as well as the geysers, mud caldrons and bubbling paint pots of worldwide fame. Home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elk, bison, bears and reintroduced wolves. Take time to explore the Park's natural wonders. See the brilliant colors of spring and summer wildflowers or winter's dazzling snow and ice. Watch for eagles, falcons and trumpeter swans among the 303 bird species that live here!


Weather determines all opening/closing dates. Opens mid-April and closes early November to wheeled vehicles, reopens mid-December through early March for Nordic skiers, snowmobilers and snowcoach travel. For general information contact the National Park Service. 307.344.7381


Three of Yellowstone Park's five gates are in Yellowstone Country. The gateway communities of Cooke City, 406.838.2272 (winter) 406.838.2495 (summer), Gardiner, 406.848.7971 and West Yellowstone 406.646.7701 provide a full range of lodging, dining and recreation possibilities! We recommend that you make reservations as far in advance as possible, however, even last-minute, spur-of -the- moment vacationers can find comfortable lodging outside the Park in most cases.

Four lodges, an inn, three hotels, cabins and extensive campground facilities. Early reservations are recommended.
